Matthew 4:12 part 6 A Faithful Testimony

Matthew 4:12 part 6
“A Faithful Testimony”

One of the main themes of John’s Gospel is, those who genuinely love God and desire to know the truth will come to believe and have faith in Jesus. Those who would rather believe what they already know will never come to this faith. Those who are content to live a worldly life will reject Christ and ultimately reject eternal life, while those who long for spiritual truth will receive His message and gain eternal life. I personally believe that John chapter 3 is a "must read" chapter of the Bible. There are three prominent "must" verses that contain four must statements.

    1.) The Sinner’s must:
a.) You must be born again (John 3:7)
    2.) The Savior’s must:
a.) The Son of Man must be lifted up (John 3:14)
    3.) The Sovereign’s must:
a.) He must increase (John 3:30)
    4.) The Servant’s must:
a.) We must decrease (John 3:30)

Matthew 4:12 part 5

“He Must Increase,
but I Must Decrease”

John 3:22-30

One of John the Baptists desciples told him the Jesus was baptizing people, and all the people were now going to Him. John responded by thelling them,

“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease."
John 3:27-30
John was the messenger who ushered in the One true Messiah, Like Apolos, many recieved the baptisim of repentabce from John, but it wasn't until Jesus came along that they could soon be truly be baptize in the Holy Spirit. Had they paid attention to John's speaches and teachings, they would know this, for before he baptized Jesus he told them,
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Matthew 4:12 part 4

John 3:13-21

Nicodemus was a Pharisaic Jewish member of the Sanhedrin, and a teacher of the people. He met with Jesus one evening because he had heard Jesus speak and had seen him perform miracles. During the visit, Nicodemus proclaimed to Jesus that he was convinced that Jesus was a man of God. Jesus’ Jesus told him, that no one can see the kingdom of God without being born in a new way. It was one of the most remarkable conversations in the whole New Testament because in 25 words the Lord gave us His heart, His plan for salvation, and His desire for our life. John 3:16 is the basis for the whole of Christianity.
